LONGBOARD CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

During the 2025 Longboard Championship, volunteers from the International Lifeguard Alliance (ILA) had the opportunity to work alongside the professional jet ski operators responsible for water safety during the event.

The experience provided volunteers with valuable insight into the coordination, preparation, and rapid response capabilities required at a world-class surfing competition. Working alongside experienced water safety professionals from the World Surf League (WSL), participants observed the critical role jet ski teams play in athlete safety and event operations.

Beyond supporting the competition, the initiative served as an important learning opportunity for future lifeguards and water safety professionals, allowing them to gain firsthand exposure to international safety standards and best practices used at elite surfing events.
The collaboration reflects ILA’s commitment to developing the next generation of water safety leaders through real-world training experiences and partnerships within the global surfing community.
