WSL CT JUNE 2026
In June, ILA volunteers proudly joined the Surf City Water Safety Team to support the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour in El Salvador, helping ensure a safe environment throughout one of the world's premier surfing events.
Our team played a key role in providing water safety services, including jet ski support, assisting athletes in and out of the lineup, responding quickly when needed, and helping maintain safe conditions in the water during competition. With consistent swell throughout the event, the work of the water safety team became even more important to protect both competitors and event personnel.
Beyond our responsibilities in the water, our volunteers also had the opportunity to participate in different activities organized during the event, collaborate with the Surf City team, and experience the unique atmosphere of an international competition. Sharing the week with professional surfers, event staff, and fellow water safety professionals was an invaluable learning experience and a reminder of the importance of preparation, teamwork, and professionalism in aquatic safety.
Events like the WSL Championship Tour allow our volunteers to gain real-world experience while strengthening the skills that support our mission of promoting safer beaches and stronger water safety practices throughout El Salvador.
